My Story
McKean County
Diagnosed at age 58
I’ll start with “THANK GOD” for that potato chip that so randomly fell on a rare malignant phyllodes tumor (less than 1% of all breast cancers) on March 13! This was the beginning of this yearlong journey I am on. I am currently in the reconstruction stage following a mastectomy. This has been quite the year for me, but I am blessed with a wonderful healthcare system and supportive family and coworkers at UPMC Kane that have carried me through it. After a few bumps in the road, I am doing great. I would like to stress the importance of keeping up with your yearly mammograms!
