Diagnosed at age 23
There are no words to describe the range of emotions you feel when you hear the words “you have cancer.” There is nothing I can compare the pain emotionally and physically of a double mastectomy to. I cannot describe the nausea and tiredness of chemotherapy. There is nothing like it. But there is nothing like seeing in action the love of the people around you, taking care of you when you cannot take care of yourself. Nothing can compare to the joy and hope of remission and the urgency, happiness and thankfulness of getting a second chance to live your life with the people you love. Cancer takes so much, but in the ways that matter, if you let it, it gives just as much, if not more.
